Q: Libs, who did Cash For Clunkers benefit more? Government Motors, or Toyota?
I spent my $4,600 boondoggle credit on a beautiful new 2009 Toyota Venza AWD wagon, that gets 23 MPG. Signing off after this to take my wife for a Sunday drive in the new car.
I paid cash for the car.
The Toyota dealership was packed with customers I had to wait to even get somebody to take my money. When I brought the car back for the first inspection sticker he said the Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealership only had 51 unsold cars left.
GM sales were down 22 percent after the government took it over.
New poll reveals most people opposed cash for clunkers law and have an unfavorable opinion of Government Motors.

A: We had a government program to get people into houses they cant afford we all know how that worked out. Now we have a program to get them into cars they cant afford so the stupidity continues. I predict in a year repos will be skyrocketing because people that drive clunkers rarely can afford a car payment especially with this job market. Also when the programs ends and no cars sell for months how is that going to help the auto industry very short sighted if you ask me.
Q: Did anyone else get on the Cash For Clunkers gravy train while it lasted?
Did any of you take advantage of Cash For Clunkers while it lasted? I did.
I signed a purchase and sale deal on a 2009 Toyota Venza AWD wagon yesterday and am picking up the new car at 2 PM today. I did qualify for the $4,500 credit, plus $100 “scrap metal value” for my old clunker, so I actually got a $4,600 credit off the price of the Venza.
I was a little spooked by the news that the program had been “suspended”last night, then the White House said it is not suspended. So I called the government CARS hotline first thing this morning, and they said if you signed a purchase deal but have not yet picked up the car “You have nothing to worry about”. I called at the government hotline 8:15 and the phone lines were already jammed (the CARS program hotline opened at 8AM)
Did any of you take advantage of this government boondoggle while it lasted?
Who’s Barry?
By the way folks then Venza is advertised as a “car”, listed on the Toyota web

However under the terms of the CARS act it is a “Class 1 truck” haha. So it qualifed for the full $4,500 credit even though it only got 6 MPG better than the clunker. That was a nice razzle dazzle by Toyota that worked to my advantage under the law.
A: I wanted to. My current car didn’t qualify because the gas milage is too good.
They told us from the beginning there was only so much money for this program. I don’t see how it is a boondoggle. That is stupid. The program was very successful.
Q: Did you know that 8 of top 10 Cash for Clunkers purchases were Japanese or Korean cars? And no GM or Chrysler?
Hmm now that the facts are in, General Motors does not seem to be in the top 10. Toyota is #1.
I bought a new Toyota Venza AWD with my $4,600. Yes it is made in America, by non union workers, designed in Japan and the engine & transmission is built in Japan.
Not quite the effect that Barry Obama hoped would have on Government Motors and the United Auto Workers?
Quote (AP News story 4 hours old):
“Eight of the top-10-selling vehicles are made by Japanese and South Korean companies, with the Toyota Corolla claiming the top spot as the most popular car in the trade-in program. Toyota Motor Corp. also overtook General Motors Co. with the greatest share of sales under Cash for Clunkers, which offers consumers discounts of $3,500 or $4,500 for trading in older vehicles for more fuel-efficient new models.
“The only two vehicles made by American manufacturers on the list of top sellers were the Ford Focus and the Ford Escape. The Focus had held the top spot early on in the program, which officially began July 27, but it has since slid to No. 3.”

OK Poindexter, if all of a sudden Toyota is an “American” car just because it was built here, then why did Barry purchase GM and the taxpayers funded it?? Hmm??
I don’t see Toyota asking for handouts, they just build better cars and sell more of them.
A: I respect your decision. That was a great choice.
Q: Libs why are 4 of the top 5 Cash For Clunkers models Japanese?
Is it because even after a free gift of $4,600 the thoughtful consumer has shown he still has no interest in buying a shitty General Motors vehicle built by the United Auto Workers and designed by General Motors engineers? I took my $4,600 from One Term Barry and bought a beautiful new, high quality Toyota Venza AWD a $33K car.
If Japanese can build better Japanese cars in America than American companties can build American cars in America then why, exactly, did the US purchase 61 percent share of General Motors?
QUOTE: Four of Top ‘Clunkers’ Model Purchases Are Foreign (Update2)
Aug. 4 (Bloomberg) — Four of the top five models sold so far under the U.S. “cash for clunkers” program, aimed at boosting the auto industry, are made by foreign automakers, according to Transportation Department data.
“Ford Motor Co.’s Focus was the top seller, followed by Toyota Motor Corp.’s Corolla, Honda Motor Co.’s Civic and Toyota’s Prius and Camry, data from the department showed today. “
“Vehicles made by the three largest U.S. automakers — General Motors Co., Ford and Chrysler Group LLC — were fewer than half of sales under the program through Aug. 1, according to Transportation Department data obtained yesterday. The companies accounted for 47 percent of the clunkers transactions. “

If your definition of “the program worked” is that I took $4,600 of One Term Barry’s money for a car I was going to buy anyway.
All it did was delay my purchase until the program was in effect.
ATTENTION LIBERAL NITWITS: Yes I am well aware that my beautiful new Venza is made in Kentucky. It is not made by UAW union slugs however, it is not designed by inept bankrupt corporation like GM either.
A: Libs why are 4 of the top 5 Cash For Clunkers models Japanese?
Because Japanese car so strong , American car stoped running ,Only Japanese car keep running till they turn to be Clunkers (20 up years)
