Q: Would a 1993 ford ranger splash get good gas mileage?
I know somone selling a 1993 ford ranger splash, and i am pretty sure its V6, would that get descent gas?

A: If you Know them Ask them. No guessing.

Q: What is the average mpg on a Ford Ranger?
2002 2.5l Diesel? I’m looking at getting a new car and would LOVE one of these but need a rough idea on running costs. Any Ford Ranger owners with any knowledge on common faults or expenses would also be very much welcomed.
I’m afraid I can’t afford a brand new one, so a 2002 would have to do – provided it has a semi-decent mpg.

A: its not worth it just get a new one.

Q: If I remove the cats from my 1990 ford ranger, will the check engine light come on?
I drive a beat up abused ford ranger, just today me and a friend cut the muffler off and installed a down pipe. I now want to take the cats out and hollow them to put them back on just in case the truck is ever inspected. I know this is bad for the environment and whatnot. But what Negative things will happen to the truck if I go through with this?

A: Nothing, back in the day they used to sell “test pipes”. I am not sure why you want to do this? If you want more horsepower use a chip and free flow air cleaner, cut the air box. Youtube has a lot about this.
As far as hollowing out a cat, not worth the time and it is not an easy job.

Q: How do you replace dashboard light in a 1995 ford ranger?
1995 ford ranger, basic everything. Only one little dash light is lit at the very top so none of my gauges are readable at night. Is this an easy job for me to do and find bulbs for or take to my mechanic? Thanks

A: The dash lights are very easy to replace. The task is just time consuming, that’s all. I did mine early last year. Click on this link and follow every step. I used this same how-to to do mine.

Q: Can fold down seats in a Ford Ranger accomidate a carseat?
My husband and I are looking to buy a small truck. However, we are also hoping to start a family this year. We have around 6k to spend and that price range looks as though we will be likely getting a Ford Ranger. Question is, will the back fold down seats accomidate a carseat or be safe? I have tried looking online and can not find any good pictures or answers. I wanted to ask someone who owns one before going to a dealership and getting hassled by a dealer.

A: The laws are the same for all states, you cannot use the smaller fold down seats to support a child’s car seat, they are not strong enough and will not support the weight..

These are usually found on the extended cab trucks, look into a crew cab smaller truck because they will have a full rear seat..

Q: What size wheels and tires can i get on a ford ranger with only a 3″ body lift?
I’m looking at getting a ford ranger with a 3′ body lift only ( its all i can afford at the moment) and I”m wondering what size rims and tires i can get on the truck. I’m looking for a mudding looking tire.

A: I would need to know the year. for the most part 33 inch tires should work but it is very important you have the correct offset on your wheels so the tires do not rub. You will also need to know the laws in your state. can the tires stick out legally? If so then you can go more negative with the offset giving you more room.

Q: How do I remove the drive shaft from an 89 ford ranger?
I am replacing the clutch of my 89 ford ranger, 4 cylinder standard transmission truck. I got partially through but got stuck on the removal of the drive shaft. I need to get the drive shaft out but cannot find detailed instructions on how to do so. Anyone know?

A: Take the bolts out holding it to the rear differential pinion. If it is a split shaft you will also have to remove the bolts holding the center bearing to the frame.

Are you sure that is all that has you stuck?

Q: How do you change the gear oil for a 92 Ford Ranger?
We need to change the gear oil for a 4 cylinder engine on a manual 92 Ford Ranger. We got under the car and tried inserting a tube, but it spilt all over the place. IS there any easier way?

A: No, I don’t think there is….
only if it has a drain plug, Which most
American cars do not….

Q: What is the Toyota equivalent of a Ford Ranger?
I’m looking for a light truck, similar to a Ford Ranger, Chevy S10 or a GMC Sonoma and I was just wondering the Toyota equivalent to this? Also if you know of any other light trucks I would appreciate it!

A: Tacoma. The Ranger is ok, but the Tacomas are near bullet-proof! I’m not a Toyota guy, but a Tacoma can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

Q: Where can i find a suspension lift kit for a 2005 ford ranger 4×4?
I’m looking for a suspension lift kit for a 2005 ford ranger 4×4. Having alot of trouble finding one. If anyone knows where to look and the best brand please let me know.

A: Yea I can’t find one online. I would try calling a off road shop or suspension shop.

Q: What is with the cooling fan on a 1994 Ford Ranger and how to get it off?
I have a 1994 4.0 Ford Ranger and can not get the fan off.I went and got a fan clutch tool from autozone but it is too big.It is 36mm,the bolt is smaller. What can I do to get it off?Do all 94 rangers have a different size fan bolt ?Anyone else have this problem?

A: Get a pair of vice grips and a friend, clamp the vice grips around where the fan clutch tool would go, and take off the 4 bolts holding the fan off with a wrench. Same thing happened to me on my 95 F250, and the fans are basically the same, only yours is a little smaller.

Q: What is the name of the diagnostics interface on a 95 Ford Ranger?
after 1996 all vehicles come with OBD-II on the side, does anyone know what is the name of the connector under the steering wheel for a 1995 Ford ranger or a 1995 Mazda B2300 .

A: That is called the 16-pin DLC (Data Link Connector). Even though your truck is a 1995 model year, it is still OBD-II compliant, as were some models older than 1996. If it weren’t OBD-II compliant, you would find one 6-pin and one 1-pin connector under the hood for scan tool hook up on ALL Ford products that are pre-OBD-II. Hope this helps.

Q: How do I change my license plate light on a 98 Ford Ranger?
My license plate light is burned out on my 98 Ford Ranger. How do I get to the bulb to replace it?

A: I have a 99. I would look in my owner’s manual 1st.

Q: How to get more horsepower out of my ford ranger?
I have a 1995 ford ranger with a 4.0 v6 and a 5 speed standard trany in it. The truck is completely stock and runs great, but I was wondering how I could get more horsepower out of it. If anyone has any ideas please tell me thanks:)

A: With a 6 you can’t do much. 6’s are not designed to be able to handle add-ons. Although the product might say it fit is, it is not good for the engine. About the only thing I would say would be a Cold Air intake. No turbos or superchargers. It really messes the engine up.
