Q: Why does my 1993 chevy suburban ABS break light as well as parking light come on after i changed the front…?
Why does my 1993 chevy suburban ABS break light as well as parking light come on after i changed the front break pads?

A: if you pushed the piston back in the caliper without loosening the bleeder valve it pushed back pressure on the system and that will cause both lights to come on,you may also notice it not stopping as well as it did before,to fix this you may have to bleed the front brakes out,id also make sure i didn’t knock any of the sensor wires off in the front or damage any of the wires for the front sensors, good luck with it.

Q: Can I Start My 2004 Chevy Suburban With the Key If I dont have the Alarm Remote To turn Off the alarm?
I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban…I kno that in my Old Chevy Cavalier if the alarm was set that if I had the key that when the alarm went off all I had to do was start the car by turning the key in the ignition…i jus wanna kno if it is the same in suburbans

A: yes it should start, and once it is running ,the alarm should shut off,my neighbor has the same alarm system on theirs, and it works the same way ,it should cut the alarm off, because the way the alarm works is it senses power from the car,so once its running to should automatically shut down ,it should allow you to start it though, good luck on it,i hope i told you right on this one.

Q: What do you guys think about a 1992 Chevy suburban?
Looking at buying this 1992 Chevy Suburban, 2500 (454), Automatic, with 205,000 miles, for about $1200. I took it for a test drive and the thing turns awesome with no problems, seems to run and shift(auto) smoothly. And I went uphill for about 5 miles, and went 65mph, and gained speed the more I pressed the pedal. (so seems strong)

A: Two pieces of advice.

The 454 will drink gas like nothing you’ve experienced before. Probably in the 10-12 mpg range.

With any used vehicle you must have a certified mechanic that you trust perform a complete mechanical inspection before you close the deal. It’s money well spent and can reveal issues both positive and negative that may affect your decision to purchase.

$1200 is a great price for a solid, good running workhorse of a truck like the older Suburban. Down the road when it does require repairs (of course it will based on the age and mileage) the costs should be reasonable for this vehicle.

Q: How do you find out if your 1998 chevy suburban is an LT model or an LS model?
I can’t find it anywhere. Where do I look to find out what it is?
It’s either a Chevy Suburban 1500LS or 1500LT?!?!

A: owners emanuel, call a dealership

Q: I’m looking at purchasing a late-model Chevy Suburban. Does it come with XM or Sirius?
I’m shopping on eBay for a late-model Chevy Suburban — and the description says it has the add-on option of “Satellite Radio.” But it doesn’t say whether it’s Sirius or XM.

I’m assuming that GM has a contract with XM or Sirius for all their vehicles, so if you have a late-model (2002 to 2005-ish) Chevy Suburban with factory-installed Satellite Radio, can you tell me whether it’s Sirius or XM. Thank you.

A: xm

Q: what is the gear ratio in a 1992 chevy suburban 1500 4×4?
I have a 1992 chevy suburban 1500 with 4×4 my rear end blew out and I want to know which other rear ends are compatable with my truck

A: You first need to find the RPO (regular production option) label. The RPO label is usually in the glove box (or trunk or center console), and has a black stripe on top of it. The label consists of a bunch of 3-character alphanumerical codes. The RPO code for the gear ratio usually starts with a GU or a GZ and is followed by a single number. ie: GU4, GU6, etc….

GM used many different rears and this is the only way, other than decoding the metal ID tag on the cover, to identify the rear.

I used to have a printout with all the axle rpo codes but I lost it. Best bet is to google the code once you find it. Off the top of my head, GU4 is 3:08 and GU6 is 3:42, but these codes are for s10s, don’t know if they’ll work for you or if that’s even your codes.

ADDED: Here ya go, I found a killer list of every axle rpo code ever used by GM….. Enjoy! http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_help/html/GM/gm_drive_axles.htm

Q: Best Cold Air Intake for 2003 Chevy Suburban?
I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban, the normal 5.3liter V8. I was wondering what would be the best cold air intake I can get for it?

A: Any “cold air” intake you get, is going to draw air from inside the engine compartment. Your best bet would be to install a good air cleaner like a K&N. The factory inlet draws air from the front of the vehicle which is cooler than the air inside the engine compartment and it will then pass through the less restrictive filter on the way to the intake.

Q: Does Ford make a truck like the Chevy Suburban?
I love Chevy Suburbans but have decided to go with Ford this time since their still independently owned. i.e (no gov. bailouts)
Do they make anything like the Suburban?

A: Ford used to make the Excursion, but it has been discontinued. It was in the same category as the Suburban.

Now the nearest thing that Ford makes now is the Expedition EL. The EL model is longer than the standard Expedition. The Expedition EL can only be had with a half-ton GVW rating. It does not have a solid rear axle like the Suburban has or the Excursion had.

Q: In what years are the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe available in the 9 passenger configuation?
I need to replace my Suburban and the new vehicle needs to seat 9. We only buy GM.

A: The 2007 through 2009 model suburban offer third row 9 passenger seating.Best of luck.

Q: What would cause low spark in 1985 chevy suburban?
my 85 chevy suburban has a low spark it try’s to start
my 85 chevy suburban has a low spark it try’s to start i put in a new distributor and rotor

A: coil in side the distributor cap and even the cap its self. Some time the wiring harness that plugs into the cap gets a short from laying on a hot engine

Q: What is the most recent model year that a Chevy Suburban could be purchased with a manual transmission?
I am interested in getting a Suburban with a manual transmission. I have found Suburbans with a manual transmission as new as 1984 but nothing newer. Does anyone know whether the newer generation of Suburbans (1992 and later) could be purchassed with a manual transmission? Knowing this would help me to search through for sale ads. Thanks.

A: Possibly 1991.

Q: How many people fit in a Chevy Suburban?
Besides the driver and the front passenger, how many people can you fit comfortably in a Suburban? Is the front a bench seat or no?

A: Depends on if they are regular people, college students or circus clowns.

1.Regular people probably 6 or 7.

2. College students maybe around 12 to 15

3.Circus clowns I’d say in the neighborhood of 35 to 40

:-)

Q: My 94 chevy suburban is getting really bad gas mileage Does anyone know why?
Ok so I had all my fluids flushed and the oil changed and know my suburban is getting really bad gas mileage. Does anyone know why this could be and what I could do to fix it.
OK well i know that it is a suburban so dont tell me that. I am just saying it got pretty good gas mileage before it was serviced and know it doesnt.

A: These people must not know how good of gas they get for such a big SUV.
I have a ‘93 Suburban that gets 16 city and 20 highway, same engine, same everything.
I may just be having to get back up to the way it was because it was completely cleaned out and an engine needs some of that stuff in it to work right.

Q: How to find seat color of ‘06 Chevy Suburban?
To order a 4th row seat for a Suburban, I need to find out which of the grays mine is:
Medium Dark Pewter
Medium Gray
Dark Gray

http://littleseats.com/chevy_suburban_yukon_xl.htm

The outside is dark gray.

Is there a way to use the VIN to find out?

A: In the glove box there should be a white tag with black print. It will have the VIN number and a series of codes 3 characters each. At the bottom of the codes are the trim codes. You will need to talk to a dealership parts person and have them help you locate the interior color code. (these codes are called RPO codes) The dealer parts dept. can also use your VIN number to look up your original build data through their Vehicle Identification System. Even if it wasn’t bought there if fact any GM dealer can do it.

Q: What is the towing capacity for a 94 Chevy Suburban 2500 4wd?
I need to move an old shed that is on a trailer weighing right around 7500lbs. to a new location approx. 800 miles away from California to Washington. There will only be one person in the car with some tools to set up the shed at its new location. Am I nuts for thinking I can tow it with my suburban and is it legal? Is it safe?

A: check your hitch and trailer tires for maximums, maybe, maybe not. Don’t forget to add the trailer weight and you better have trailer brakes. Whatever you do, don’t use OD. and check all tires before leaving. Dont go over 55 mph…
