Q: Why is the name Dodge “Viper” important to the muscle car category?
So, Ive been researching about the Chrysler Dodge Viper muscle car and everyone had told me its raw power is why people purchase these vehicles. What other reasons are there that make car enthusiast purchase these magnificent vehicles? Why is the Viper so respectable and how does it land a spot in muscle/exotic category?

No offense, but i think the corvettes wack and have less build quality. compared to the viper.

Q: Insurance on a 1998 Dodge Viper Convertible?
I am 19 about to go into college and i’m thinking about getting a 1998 dodge viper. I have no wrecks and no tickets or anything. I’m currently taking the defensive driving school so it will lower my insurance. I also make a 3.4 GPA. Pleas help thanks.

A: You would need to be on a multi car policy with your parents and have to have full coverage. It will run about $500.00 a month with AAA for nine months. And AAA is about the cheapest for teenagers and yes you would be required to have full coverage with a car like that till you are 25

I have a 2001 Dodge Viper which needs its belt replaced. Should I find a Viper Technician to do this (and incur the extra cost/time/distance to travel to find one) or just go to a local mechanic to get it done? Also how much should it cost? Thanks!!!

Q: Dodge Viper – Any recommendations on how to improve the sound?
I’ve got a 2006 Viper and the exhaust sound simply isn’t representative of the V10 power and looks of the car. I know it’s one of the many quirky traits of the Viper but it needs something more than the typical drone. Anyone have any reasonable ideas on how to “pony car” the exhaust system?

A: The borla exhaust is pretty amazing on vipers. I have a good buddy that used to be a viper guy/racer, and his with the borla is amazing.

All Viper fans are aware that the new 2008 Dodge viper with 600 HP and 560lbs of torque, will be released this summer, (there is no 2007 model).

Q: How does a Dodge Viper engine compare to foreign exotics?
I’ve always wanted a Viper, but I also want a quality product. I know I will save money on maint. by buying domestic, but will it require a lot of shop time? Long term reliability?

A: Understand one thing, all of these cars require maintenance and have to be taken to shops that work on those types of cars. There are more Dodge dealers than BMW, Porsche, and Ferrari dealers combined. The V-10 engine is also used in the Dodge pick-up and has a proven record. The concerns that smart E mentioned are the same for all of the super cars. His problem is that he knows somebody that knows somebody that may have had one of the cars he mentioned. I have a 2006 Viper coupe and it is by far the best high-performance car I have owned. I’ve had Corvettes, BMW’s, Porsche, Maserati, and Lotus and this car simply out performs all of them. The insurance for any of these cars is the same. The workmanship is as good as the other cars I mentioned. It’s a hand-built car for God’s sake. If you want a rattle trap try the Shelby Cobras of the 1960’s. Unfortunately, they have the stigma of being associated with Carrol Shelby and the owners have forked out 2, 3 and 4 hundred thousand dollars to own one. Carrol Shelby never turned a bolt on any of those. He goes where the money is and I put my name on that.
Don’t hesitate on the Viper. Just be glad you had the opportunity to own one. They’ll be the collector car of tomorrow.

Q: what colors can you get for a Dodge Viper convertible?
- On the viper’s website, there are several colors you can choose for your viper, including blue, red, black, and gray, with black or white stripes. However, when you go to build the convertible, you can choose between red and black, with silver and black stripes. What’s up with that? And while i’m at it, can you get GPS in a viper?

A: Currently the only factory colors you can get are black and red but if you are paying 80K+ for a ride you may as well take it somewhere to get custom paint. What’s a couple more thousand to get your ride looking the way you want it to. As for a GPS, you can get an after market Navigation system. I’m surprised and disappointed at the lack of factory options for the Viper. You’d think you could get pretty much whatever you want if you are paying that price for a car that doesn’t perform any better than a few cars that are much cheaper (Corvette, Shelby Cobra). I still like my Dodges though, own a Charger myself.

Q: Dodge viper and the company hummer are being discontinued after 2009. Input?
Dodge Viper, the company hummer, saturn sky, chrystler pt cruiser, honda s200, there were a few others, but all of these are being discontinued. The Hummer company, and viper hit me hard, i love those cars! When this gas crisis is over, Hummers will come back, i hope. how do you feel about these cars being discontinued?

A: ive heard of the others but not the viper or sky. they already have a 2010 viper out so im not so sure how true that is

i want the new dodge viper sooo bad. also is it street legal in New Jersey? A: listen a bmw z4 is nothing like the cars u listed. the smart car is just stupid like you. You getting an extra + from your A+ is ridiculous because u cannot get an extra plus. Q: Do you think that Dodge will come out with a more powerful Viper for the Vette zo6?
I used to be a big Viper fan but knowing the fact that the zo6 is just faster, I lost interest in it. (2006 Dodge Viper Coupe, 2006 Corvette zo6)

Q: how do you disconnect the battery on your dodge viper when you store it for the winter?
I want to prevent my battery from dying on my 2004 viper. Does anyone know what to disconnect and where?

A: “The battery is located under the battery access panel inside the trunk (floor) on the left (drivers) side. Remote battery terminals are located in the engine compartment for jump starting.”

To simply disconnect the battery, you could either remove the negative clamp at the battery, or the negative cables at the remote terminal. But then, at the very least, you would have to reset everything in the spring (see first link in “sources”), plus, the battery could still go flat, and freeze if cold enough while it’s discharged (then you usually need a new one). A low output battery tender would be your best option, and they’re pretty cheap. You could connect it either at the battery or the remote jump terminals. Best to remove any light bulb that turns on under the hood or trunk lid, if you leave it open to run the cables in.

Nothing dies, it just goes on. It will OPEN again, for sure.
